Sega asked Brain Zoo to create a cinematic which would tell the story of the Iron Phoenix through the use of 2D illustrations. The Legend of the Iron Phoenix tells of a meteor that crashed to earth to divide into 9 perfect sections. The Blacksmith Koo stole into the crater to take the meteor which he used to form into 9 magic weapons. Upon completion, Koo was murdered and his wares were stolen. It is said that supreme power will be granted to whoever possesses all 9 of the weapons. And so the story begins�
We decided that we didn�t want to only use static 2D images, but to create a 2 � D blend to tell the tale. Our solution was to design illustrations that gave the appearance of motion and depth. We accomplished this by creating 2D illustrations and placing them in a 3D environment by adding effects and movement to the foreground and background. Our talented team provided all the design, illustrations and animation. The resulting cinematic has a very unique look and feel� helping the story to unfold in a new and dynamic way.
