BREAKING NEWS - 04/29/2009 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Brain Zoo Studios Nabs Sports Emmy Award - Independent animation house is behind the graphic design and animation on Fox Sports News’ “Sport Science” - VAN NUYS, CA (APRIL 29, 2009) – The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) awarded the hit Fox Sports News show “Sports Science” with an Emmy on Monday night at the 28th annual Sports Emmy Awards. Sports Science takes an in-depth look at the various mental and physical functions of an athlete during his/her performance. Brain Zoo Studios, working with BASE Productions, is behind the impressive graphical direction and animation for the show, which utilizes animation and graphics to showcase the various functions and effects of movement, injuries and motions of the human body in various sports. “We are thrilled to be a part of this team,” said Mo Davoudian, CEO of Brain Zoo Studios. “Working with BASE Productions has been a tremendous honor and we’re proud that our team’s dedication to perfection has paid off with an Emmy award for the show.” The animation and design teams work at BASE and Brain Zoo work on a 1-3 week turnaround for each show for the entire season of episodes for Sport Science. Utilizing various motion capture methods including motion capture, roto capture and keyframe capture, the meticulous and skilled animators then design the exact motion of the body as it moves, jumps, hits, and takes impact for the show to explain scientifically what the body is going through in various physical situations. At the 28th Annual Sports Emmy® Awards, winners in 32 categories including outstanding live sports special, live series, sports documentary, studio show, promotional announcements, play-by-play personality and studio analyst were be honored. The Awards were given out at the prestigious Frederick P. Rose Hall, Home of Jazz at Lincoln Center located in the Time Warner Center on April 27th, 2009 in New York City.
